Apple’s ultimate goal with its VisionOS platform appears to be the development of glasses that seamlessly blend in as conventional eyewear, rather than resembling bulky ski goggles. Brilliant Labs shares this vision with their latest innovation, the Frame. Unlike conventional pass-through video setups, the Frame features a vibrant 640×400 color microLED display and a geometric prism optic, allowing it to superimpose information onto the wearer’s unobstructed view of the surroundings.

Equipped with a 720p camera and responsive voice commands, the Frame collaborates with the companion Noa app to deliver customized information overlay experiences. These functionalities encompass a wide array of tasks such as landmark identification, real-time translation, and web searches.

Operating on a tailored version of the open-source Lua OS, the Frame offers users three distinct styles—black, white, and clear. Adding a touch of whimsy, the Frame charges via the Mister Power charger, which cleverly disguises itself as a comically styled “nose,” lending the glasses a playful yet discreet aesthetic.
