ASTON MARTIN V8 - THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS 1973

When the time came to shoot The Living Daylights, Timothy Dalton made his debut as James Bond and EON Productions had their sights set on putting him behind the wheel of an Aston Martin V8. The challenge was the extensive 18-month waitlist to acquire one from the manufacturer. Undeterred, they devised an alternative plan and purchased four classic models instead, skillfully transforming them to appear brand new. This 1973 model was among the chosen ones. Originally delivered in Tudor Green metallic, the car underwent a complete makeover, with its color changed to the sleek Cumberland Grey. Numerous modifications were introduced, including updated rear bodywork, a hood designed to carburetor specifications, modernized wheels, and a simulated sunroof to match the appearance of the other vehicles. As is customary with 007’s cars, this Aston Martin was equipped with various gadgets. To further enhance its allure, simulated rocket boosters, and removable skis were ingeniously attached to the side sills. For the sake of a crucial chase scene, both the engine and transmission were removed to reduce weight. This allowed the car to be convincingly driven into a snowbank during filming.
