After years of speculation, Apple has finally unveiled its long-awaited headset, introducing it as the Vision Pro. Positioned as a spatial computing device, it seamlessly merges augmented reality and virtual reality technologies. The device features a Digital Crown that grants users control over the level of immersion they experience. Its fully three-dimensional interface appears to float within the wearer’s surroundings, casting lifelike shadows and enabling interaction with objects. Moreover, the settings allow the interface to transport users to entirely different virtual environments. The Vision Pro boasts two micro-OLED screens, each the size of a postage stamp and equipped with an impressive 23 million pixels. These screens, coupled with three-element lenses, deliver stunningly detailed visuals. To complement the visuals, built-in audio pods provide spatial audio, ensuring an immersive soundscape. Powering these features are the M2 processor and the new R1 chip, which swiftly processes data from the headset’s 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones in mere milliseconds. Users can effortlessly control the device through a combination of eye tracking, hand tracking with gesture recognition, and voice recognition.
